This thread is one of the best for crewel embroidery.
For needlepoint, two strands work nicely on 18-mesh canvas -- ply up for other weights of canvas.
For 10-mesh canvas, one strand of tapestry wool and one strand of crewel wool may be used in the needle together.
There are approximately 7 skeins to a hank.
One skein covers approximately 11 square inches using 2 strands on 18m canvas, all depending on the individual stitcher and the stitches used.
