Alex-Paras NeedleArts can supply you with the threads listed to the best of our ability. We carry a full-line of Gumnut Yarns hand-dyed threads and stock many Rainbow Gallery Threads. We also have Persian, Appleton tapestry and crewel wools, Anchor cotton floss, Needlepoint Inc. silk thread, Kreinik Metallic thread, and many other needlework threads. We will gladly order for you threads that are not in stock and get them to you in a timely manner.
The threads used for embroidery stitching, or needlepoint, may be wool, silk, cotton or blends, like a wool and silk blend. You may also choose from variety fibers, such as metallic cord, metallic braid, ribbon, and raffia for your needlepoint. Common stitching is plain and covers just one thread intersection with a single orientation. Fancy stitching includes Bargello or others.
Bargello is upright flat stitching traditionally done using wool thread. This stitch is very durable, usually done in wool on canvas, and is therefore well-suited for upholstery, pillows and rugs. The stitch itself usually goes over two or more threads.
Plain stitches are called tent stitches, and they can be basketweave, continental and half cross among others. Basketweave uses the most thread, but does not distort the mesh and makes for a great piece to wear.
Among the most popular thread brands are Kreinik metallic threads, Silk & Ivory, Vineyard Silks, Trebizond, Rainbow Gallery Threads, Soie d'Alger, The Caron Collection threads, DMC or Anchor cotton floss and perle cottons, and Persian, DMC, and Appleton wools.
We have added Mill Hill beads to our online inventory -- enjoy!!
If what you are looking for isn't on-line... just email us and we'll call to take your order. If there's no COLOR SELECTION KEY for a particular thread you are trying to find, please email us (thisneedle@aol.com) with your request.
We often see price changes, however, if we have the merchandise in stock at an older/lower price, you will be charged the lower price. Unfortunately all prices are subject to change.
It is our policy to always provide our customers with the same dyelot when more than one of a color is ordered. If dyelot is not a concern, please let us know in the Comment field of your order. This does not apply to closeout/sale threads which are limited to what we have in stock.
We can not guarantee stock or availability of threads on our site. Some threads we are able to get restocked in 7-10 days, others are taking 6-8 weeks (and sometimes more). Let us know via the Comment field at Checkout or via the email confirmation of order that, if we are missing items, you want what we currently have available to be shipped.
